Mindset shift tips for newcomer job seekers in Canada

Most job seekers don’t struggle because they lack skills—they struggle because they get stuck in a cycle of apply, wait, repeat, often with no feedback. Sounds familiar? What you need is a mindset shift to balance your day, apply with intention, and showcase your personality in the process. We’ve put together advice for you.

Akadion: A peer community for your academic journey

Akadion is a student-built platform supporting Master's, PhD, and Postdoctoral students through mentorship, events, resources, and peer connections. IECC honours employers driving inclusion in Canadian workplaces

We’re proud to celebrate the 2026 IECC National Inclusion in Action Employer Award, in partnership with New Canadians TV Network, recognizing employers who are actively creating meaningful opportunities for internationally trained professionals to grow and succeed in Canada.

Nominated by newcomers working within their organizations, this year’s recipients are being recognized by the Immigrant Employment Councils of Canada (IECC) for leading with inclusion through everyday actions that build belonging, open doors, and support career growth.

Watch the campaign videos to see how these employers are putting inclusion into action and helping newcomer talent thrive across Canada.

Hispanotech's Mentorship Program registration is open

Launched in 2015, the Mentorship Program aims to help internationally trained professionals transition to work in Canada, improve their skills and confidence, and develop professional connections. The program matches immigrant professionals (Mentees) with seasoned professionals (Mentors) already established in Canada who share similar professional backgrounds and career interests.
