Your July 2025 guide to finding success in Canada

Resources to navigate life and work as an immigrant

Hey there!

Happy Canada Day! Whether you’re new to the country or preparing to arrive soon, July 1 is a great moment to learn, celebrate, and reflect.

In this month’s newsletter, we’ve rounded up resources to help you feel more at home or prepare for your move—from finding your first rental to building credit and launching your career. You’ll also read about a newcomer making a big impact through food and community.

Dive in, and let us know what resonated with you by writing to us at [email protected].

What every newcomer should know before renting in Canada

Finding your first home in Canada can be overwhelming, especially if you don’t know where to start. Head over to our website to read a comprehensive article on finding accommodation, which dives into short-term vs. long-term housing options, leasing through trusted platforms, learning what documents you’ll need, as well as how to spot common rental scams. Whether you're arriving solo or with family or landed recently and ready to go apartment-viewing, this is your essential starting point for safe, secure housing.

A way for new and incoming immigrants to start building credit early

Building credit is key to starting life in Canada, but it’s often a confusing process for newcomers. We chat with Paschal Okwundu, whose fintech platform, Binta Financial, helps immigrants establish credit history early, making housing, phone plans, and job access easier from day one.

How one newcomer planted the seeds of change in Winnipeg

In 2005, Raymond Ngarboui arrived in Winnipeg, Manitoba, with a passion for helping others. Today, his Rainbow Community Garden supports nearly 400 families with fresh food, cultural connection, and a sense of belonging.

From grassroots gardening to large-scale food distribution, Raymond’s work is reshaping food access in the city.

And now, back to Canada Day: A time to celebrate and reflect!

Canada Day, on July 1, marks the country’s founding in 1867. For those arriving soon, it’s an opportunity to learn about your new home. For newcomers, it’s a chance to join local celebrations, enjoy fireworks, and connect with your community. It’s also a meaningful time to learn about Indigenous Peoples and reflect on the country’s history. Wherever you are, we hope you find a moment to celebrate—and feel a sense of belonging. Happy Canada Day!
